Oct 30, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 30, 2024

Toronto, ON, Canada / Kingston, Jamaica – The Jamaican men’s curling team, comprised of Ian

Robertson, Andrew Walker, Don Johnston and Luke Samuels, has improved to a record of 6 wins and

1 loss in round robin play at World Curling’s Pan Continental Championship in Lacombe, Alberta,

Canada.

Their next game might be their toughest challenge so far, as they will oppose an undefeated Philippines men’s team at 10:00am (Jamaica time) this morning (Wednesday, October 30, 2024). The Philippines, which features former Swiss national team skip Marc Pfister, have outscored their opponents 74-8 and sit atop the standings with a 6-0 record. The Jamaican men will then face Qatar at 8:00pm (Jamaica time) in the evening.

With only one game left in the round robin for the Jamaican men after tomorrow (an 8:00pm game vs.

Nigeria on Thursday, October 31st), victories will be crucial to secure a berth in the playoff round. Only

the top four teams from the round robin will advance to the playoff round.

Australia 5 Jamaica 4 – The Australians were demoted from the A-Division last year and proved to be a tough test for the Jamaican women. Jamaica gradually erased an early 3-0 deficit and took a 4-3 lead after 9 ends. Australia then scored 2 points in the 10th end to win the game.

Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024:

Kazakhstan 7 Jamaica 4 – Jamaica took a 3-2 lead by scoring 2 points in the 4th end, but were held to

just one point for the rest of the game. Kazakhstan needed the full 10 ends to secure the victory.
