Toronto, ON, Canada / Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaica will be represented by both a men’s and women’s
team at the World Curling Federation’s Pan Continental Championship, which begins today in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada.
The Pan Continental Championship serves as a regional qualifier for the 2025 World Curling
Championships, and involves national teams from outside of Europe. Both the Jamaican men’s and
women’s teams begin play in the B-Division, where teams will compete in a single round robin against all of the other B-Division teams. The top four teams in the round robin will enter a playoff round, with the winner gaining promotion to the A-Division.
The Jamaican women’s curling team returns to the Pan Continental Championships one year after
capturing the B-Division silver medal in last year’s championship, losing only to eventual winner China. This year’s women’s team is comprised of Madeleine Spurgeon, Stephanie Chen, Margot Shepherd-
Spurgeon, Alexandra Marriott and alternate Teresa Chen. The women are coached by Arthur Leganchuk.
The women begin play today against Hong Kong at 3:00pm (Jamaica time).
The Jamaican men’s curling will be making their official international debut in World Curling Federation
competition. The “Skip” of the men’s team is Curling Jamaica President Ian Robertson, and he is joined by Andrew Walker, Don Johnston and Luke Samuels. The men are coached by Cristiene Hall-Teravainen.
The men will play against Kazakhstan at 10:00am and then later will play Hong Kong at 8:00pm.
