Toronto, ON, Canada / Kingston, Jamaica – Here are the latest results and summary for the Jamaican
men’s and women’s curling teams in round robin play at the Pan Continental Championship in Lacombe,
Alberta, Canada.
Women’s News and Results
Jamaica 13 Philippines 11 – The Jamaican women’s team of Madeleine Spurgeon, Stephanie Chen,
Margot Shepherd-Spurgeon and Alexandra Marriott have qualified for the championship playoff round
after completing a well-earned victory against the previously undefeated Philippines.
The high-scoring game saw multiple shifts in momentum and required an extra end to determine a
winner. Jamaica erased an early 2-0 deficit by scoring 3 points in the 2nd end, and held leads of 6-3 and
then 8-5 before the Philippines stormed back to narrow the deficit to a single point. Jamaica then struck
for 3 points in the 9th end to take a commanding 11-7 lead with only one end left to play. However, the
Philippines answered by scoring 4 points in the 10th end to tie the game.
Unfazed, Jamaica scored 2 points in the extra end to secure the victory.
As are result, Jamaica owns a record of 4 wins and 2 losses with one game left to play. They have
secured at least a fourth-place finish in the round robin standings, meaning they advance to Friday’s
playoff round along with Australia, Kazakhstan and the Philippines. Jamaica’s final game of the round
robin is against Kenya today at 3:00pm (Jamaican time).
Men’s News and Results
The Jamaican men’s curling team, comprised of Ian Robertson, Andrew Walker, Don Johnston and Luke
Samuels, currently owns a record of 6 wins and 2 losses and sits in 3rd place with just two games
remaining to play in the round robin. The other four teams in playoff contention – the Philippines,
Kazakhstan, Hong Kong and India – all have a game in hand over Jamaica.
Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024:
Philippines 7 Jamaica 5 – Jamaica gave the Philippines its toughest test of the tournament so far.
Jamaica erased a 4-2 deficit by scoring single points in the 6th and 7th ends to tie the game 4-4. The
Philippines then scored 2 more points in the 8th end to take the lead and held Jamaica to a single point in the 9th end to secure the win.
Jamaica 8 Qatar 6 – Jamaica erased a 6-1 Qatar lead to win the game in 10 ends.
Remaining game – vs. Nigeria, Thursday October 31st at 8:00pm (Jamaica time).

World Curling Federation) and serves as a regional qualifier for the 2025 World Curling Championships.
Both the Jamaican men’s and women’s teams begin play in the B-Division. The top four teams in after
the round robin will enter a playoff round, with the winner gaining promotion to the A-Division. For
